Marcel Lazar Lehel, aka Guccifer, will now have to face a U.S. court on charges of fraud, unauthorized access to a protected computer, aggravated identity theft, cyberstalking and obstruction of justice.
The hacker is accused of stealing data from email and social media accounts of U.S. celebrities and politicians, most notably the family of former President George W. Bush. Lehel already received four years in prison in Romania for similar crimes.
Guccifer became infamous in 2013 for hacking into the Bush family emails and then posting the unreleased artwork drawn by the President.

Xiaomi claims 16 million 'reservations' for new Mi 5 flagship 6 Mar 2016, 4:36 pm
Reportedly, the company has only prepared 4 million units for the first round of sales, suggesting there will be major supply issues when the phone is released.
Local Chinese reports say the phone went out of stock immediately due to the demand, with stock not returning for weeks.
The Mi 5 startes at $300 and features a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, an Adreno 530 GPU, 32GB internal storage and 3GB RAM.

Windows 10 updates for Windows 8.1 phones to begin rolling out tomorrow 6 Mar 2016, 4:06 pm
Microsoft has promised to begin rolling out the new mobile operating system starting tomorrow, although it is unclear which countries or carriers will be the first to receive it.
Vodafone Italy did tweet that their customers with Lumia devices should expect an update this week, although users will surely wait until they actually see the notification.

Modern email inventor Ray Tomlinson dies at 74 6 Mar 2016, 3:46 pm
Although email already existed in an incredibly limited capacity, Tomlinson is credited with inventing the first network person-to-person email, allowing people to send emails to a specific person at a specific address. Tomlinson also contributed to the development of the ARPANET system, the computer network the U.S. government used before the Internet as we know it came into being.
Tomlinson once said in an interview that he created email "mostly because it seemed like a neat idea," and co-workers from the 1970s say he was just fooling around when he created the system that billions use daily now.
The Internet Hall of Fame inductee was still working for Raytheon as principal scientist, the same place he worked since 1967.

Sony's PlayStation 4 3.50 software beta is almost here 1 Mar 2016, 3:19 pm
The beta will be available tomorrow if you were selected, and Sony is sending out emails with instructions on how to download.

New Social Features
Friend Online Notification – Want to know the moment your friends come online? With this update, you can, as we've added an option to be notified when members of your friends list sign on the network.
Appear Offline – Sometimes you want to play a game or watch a movie without being bothered by friends. Now it's easier to go incognito as we've added the option to appear offline. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile or the Quick Menu.
User Scheduled Event – Time for a play date! We've added the ability to schedule a future gameplay session with your friends on the system. When your event starts, users who registered for the event will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.
Play Together – This features allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can easily join a friend's game, or start a new game together.
Other New System Features
Remote Play (PC/Mac) – We're bringing PS4 Remote Play to Windows PC and Mac. This feature won't be available to test in the beta, but you can look forward to it soon.
Dailymotion – With this update, you'll be able to live stream directly to Dailymotion on PS4. We'll also support archiving live broadcasts, like we do for other streaming services.

Originally intended as a way to play digital console games, Sony notes that the PS4 and the Vita are doing quite well across the globe, leaving the microconsole as an incredibly niche product.
"PS Store for PlayStation TV will continue to be accessible, and PlayStation TV-related information will continue to be updated. In terms of applications/service for PlayStation TV, we will make further communications to users as necessary," added Sony.
The device launched in Japan in late 2013 and everywhere else in early 2014.

Man pleads guilty to uploading DVD screeners of 'The Revenant' and 'The Peanuts Movie' 29 Feb 2016, 7:13 pm
"As the Academy Awards ceremony this weekend highlights, the entertainment industry is the economic cornerstone of the Central District of California," said US Attorney Eileen Decker said in the statement. "The defendant's conduct harmed the very industry that was providing his livelihood as well as the livelihood of others in Southern California."
The FBI began an immediate investigation after a dozen DVD screeners appeared over the holidays including high-profile films like The Big Short, Revenant, Spotlight and more.
"The FBI will continue to pursue those who steal intellectual property, a crime that negatively impacts the U.S. economy, and in the case of a movie leak, victimizes everyday workers in the entertainment industry," David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles field office, said in the statement.
Moriarty could face up to three years but will likely see less for his plea deal.

The Raspberry Pi 3 is here, and it's still just $35 29 Feb 2016, 6:45 pm
Model B of the Raspberry Pi 3 now has a quad-core 1.2GHz 64-bit ARM Cortex A53 and embedded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a massive upgrade from previous models that required USB adapters for the connectivity. The new PC supports 802.11n Wi-Fi (2.4GHz only) and Bluetooth 4.0.
The device is available now via Element14, Think Allied, and RS Components, the usual retailers for the PCs.
Raspberry Pi creator Eben Upton says the new model should run 50 percent faster and more efficiently than previous models. "The main reason we're excited about Cortex A53 is it's a better 32-bit processor [than A7]. You can run in 32-bit mode," Upton said.
Additionally, the Pi has 1GB RAM and a new Broadcom 400MHz VideoCore IV that will support 1080p video at 60fps.

Samsung is in talks to acquire HiFi music streaming service Tidal 29 Feb 2016, 6:02 pm
It appears that those talks have restarted.
"Samsung is re-engaging; they are working on something really big, and they're keeping it very quiet in case it leaks," said a source.
Tidal, despite its star power, has struggled mightily to compete against Apple Music and Spotify and is reportedly burning through money. The company got a boost recently when Kanye West released his latest album exclusively through the service, but it is unclear if the publicity will lead to any more sales.

The new Cybertool attachment will clip on to your existing Victorinox INOX watch and will give you the ability to take calls, texts and view notifications.
Additionally, the accessory has GPS support and will have some basic fitness capabilities like step counting and calorie counting.
The attachment is set to retail for over $200 and, of course, you need the INOX watch as well, which will set you back another $500. There is also the question of how it will look (doesn't look too promising).

Nintendo unveils Pokemon Sun and Moon 28 Feb 2016, 8:07 am
The games will hit the Nintendo 3DS handheld console in time for the holidays this year, and will be the first new games since 2013's Pokemon X and Y.
"We hope that, through Pokemon, players can overcome language barriers and interact with other players from around the world," Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of The Pokemon Company, said while adding that the game will launch worldwide and in nine different languages.
In celebrating the 20th anniversary of the franchise, gamers can also play the original titles on their 3DS's this weekend.

Regal Cinemas to offer unlimited ticket to Batman v Superman 28 Feb 2016, 7:25 am
The ticket, which is actually a stainless steel card with laser cut symbols and your name engraved, will cost $100 and will include entry to all iterations of the film, including Imax.
Only 1000 of the cards are being made, and they have an expiration of September 24th.
It is hard to see anyone seeing this movie 5 or more times (in Imax) to make the card worth it, but it is a cool gift and idea if you have the disposable income.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will open on March 25, 2016.

Microsoft ends their quest to port Android apps to Windows 28 Feb 2016, 7:10 am
"Project Astoria," as it was codenamed, would have given developers an easier way to bring their Android apps to Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile.
Microsoft director Kevin Gallo says, bluntly, that "bridge technologies to bring code from mobile operating systems to Windows was unnecessary."
The decision was likely an easy one after Microsoft agreed to acquire startup Xamarin, a company that lets developers write their apps in a single programming language and then customize it for the major smartphone platforms. Microsoft also has an open-source iOS migration tool that has proven popular.

YouTube will now let you blur whatever you want in your videos using custom tool 28 Feb 2016, 6:56 am
The new "Custom Blurring" tool, which is available now for the desktop version of the video sharing site, will let you "blur any object in your video, even as it moves. Whether you want to blur sensitive information such as a license plate or cover up a wardrobe malfunction without reshooting an entire scene, the new Custom Blurring tool will let you blur objects throughout your video, right within YouTube."
Easy enough, the feature lets you draw a box around whatever you want to be blurred and YouTube will automatically blur that object whenever it appears throughout the video.
You can also choose to move the blurred areas, resize them, and choose when the blur starts and ends.

Samsung wins $120 million appeal in patent feud with Apple 27 Feb 2016, 7:44 pm
The court said Samsung did not infringe on Apple's "quick links" patent and also discarded two other patents related to the iPhone's slide-to-unlock and auto-correct features.
Making it a completely lopsided victory for Samsung, the court also ruled that Apple infringed on one of Samsung's patents, as well.
Added Samsung: "Today's decision is a win for consumer choice and puts competition back where it belongs - in the marketplace, not in the courtroom."
