You can reach us at: http://unifraktur.sf.net/unifraktur-forum/ or at: j_mach_wust at shared-files dot de UnifrakturMaguntia is a modification of Peter Wiegel's font Berthold Mainzer Fraktur that can be found at the following site (retrieved 2010-03-14) and that is in turn based on a 1901 typeface by Carl Albert Fahrenwaldt: http://www.peter-wiegel.de/KochFraktur.html Up to version 2010-11-24, UnifrakturMaguntia was basically identical to Wiegel's font, but the glyphs are given other codepoints so they are in accordance with the Unicode standard. Additionally, smart font rendering has been added in order to generate the font's ligatures. By version 2012-10-17, Georg Duffner has finished redrawing all of Wiegel's original glyphs. UnifrakturMaguntia change list =============================== * 2012-10-19 Bugfixes: - Fixing h with acute (G. Ansmann). - Fixing OpenType Layout features (j. 'mach' wust). * 2012-10-17 General overhaul by G. Ansmann is finished: - The remaining capital letters (A, B, H–Z) have been redigitalized or redesigned, respectively. With this, all letters are based on an own digitalization or design. - There are now historical variants of ä, ö and ü with a little e instead of the dieresis. These can be assessed using U+0364 or Stylistic Set 03. Stylistic Set 04 replaces Ä, Ö and Ü with Ae, Oe and Ue. - Several special characters were created or improved for modern variants of the Latin alphabet, thus supporting: Albanian, Azerbaijani, Czech, Dansk, Dieth System for Swiss dialects, Dutch, Esperanto, Estonian, Finnish, French, Hungarian, Irish, Islandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norsk, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Slovenian, Sorbian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish, Welsh. - Several special characters used by old Czech, Slovak, Latvian and especially Sorbian orthographies were added (mainly thanks to hints by F. Kaulfürst, S. Wölke and K. Stumpf). - Glyphs with diacritics can now be accessed via combining diacritical marks. - Character Variants 03 gives access to six variants of š. Stylistic Sets 5 and 6 contain variants of s-based special characters. Stylistic Set 07 provide variants of ď and ť with a caron instead of the comma. - Lowercase numbers now have kerning. Tabular upper- and lowercase numbers have been added. - Some ligatures have been added: ſb, ffj, fı, ffı - Some special characters have been redesigned: €, £, * - Some historical special characters (mostly units) were moved to a new font »UnifrakturSupplement«, since they are not fitted to the Maguntia font (and will not be before long). - Some minor improvements. * 2012-07-26 - Glyphs: ð, ø, E, f-ligatures, remaining ligatures (Gerrit Ansmann). - Fixed ß width (Gerrit Ansmann). - Fixed fontlog typos (j. 'mach' wust). * 2012-07-21 - Redrawn or improved glyphs by Gerrit Ansmann: Punctuation, lower case letters, C, D, F, G. - New casing numerals by Gerrit Ansmann. - ccmp instead of rlig by j. 'mach' wust (thanks to http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=22240#c36 ). - ttfautohint * 2012-02-11 Major improvements of all Latin letters -- A–Z, a–z, long s (ſ), round r (ꝛ) -- and their ligatures by Gerrit Ansmann: - Simplification, smoothing and alignment of all glyphs; - new hinting, including "BlueValues" (global hinting settings); - improvement of glyph width; - significant changes to the bar height on f, k, t, long s (ſ); - significant changes or new design of many glyphs, including: s, I, J, Æ, Œ, Ø, Þ, Ð, ø, æ, œ, /, <, >, all ligatures, all accents (except i-dot and diaeresis) and accented letters; - the following glyphs have been removed: ƒ, all ligatures with ſſ, ll (replaced by a kerning pair), ſch, ſs; - new glyphs: ſj, ij, IJ, several accented glyphs. Overhaul of the OpenType features by Georg Duffner: - cv01 will turn round s into long s (ſ) except at the ends of words -- manual override: ZWNJ; - cv02 will turn regular r into round r (ꝛ) after round letters and r; - cv03 will turn capital Ä Ö Ü into Ae Oe Ue; - ss01 will use historic stylistic variants of u U v V; - ss02 will use historic stylistic variants of i I j J; - hlig will turn etc. into ꝛc.; - dlig will turn double nn and mm into n and m with bar above (formerly hlig). AAT and Graphite support has been dropped for the normal release which is intended for web use since no browser supports them. In the future, a special release with AAT and Graphite support is planned (mainly for LibreOffice). * 2010-11-24 License change: UnifrakturMaguntia is now OFL only (with kind consent by Peter Wiegel); the name is now "UnifrakturMaguntia" in order to prevent problems with a space in the font name. * 2010-08-17 Ligatures may now be forced with ZWJ as recommended by Unicode. * 2010-07-21 Added longs-t to required ligatures. Duplicated rlig ligatures in liga for pango compatibility. * 2010-06-19 Moved ch, ck and tz required ligatures, so correct letterspacing is possible. * 2010-06-01 Replaced README.txt by FontLog.txt, added new WOFF, SVG and EOT generated with Font Squirrel's @font-face generator. * 2010-05-25 Added new glyps from Berthold Mainzer Fraktur UNZ1A.ttf; changed name from UnifrakturMaguntia to Unifraktur Maguntia. * 2010-03-24 New version, based on a new version of Peter Wiegel's font that includes the additional ligatures longs_longs_i, longs_h, longs_j, longs_k, longs_s, s_k. * 2010-03-19 Who whould have thought of that: AAT converts the sequence longs-longs-i into the ligature ffl. Ha ha, very funny... except it isn't. * 2010-03-18 Added combining macron, so m_macron and n_macron no longer require AAT or Graphite. Fix for what appears to be a XeTeX bug with zero width characters. * 2010-03-17 UnifrakturMaguntia has been created by j. 'mach' wust, as a modification of Peter Wiegel's font Bertholdr Mainzer Fraktur.
